Meru, 26th November 2021…Solution SACCO today launched a tree planting activity aimed at planting over 8,000 seedlings in schools in Meru County. This is part of the SACCO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Inititiative targeting to plant over 8,000 trees. The theme of the tree planting exercise is Panda miti, Boresha Maisha .

The event was flagged off by the SACCO Chairman, Mr. Francis Rimberia who in his address stated that the SACCO will plant over 8,000 trees in the regions that the SACCO is located in a bid to conserve the environment.

The SACCO CEO, Mr. Daniel Kinyua Marete stated that Solution SACCO has great concern for the environment and would like to help reduce the unfavourable effects of climate change. “In partnership with Kenya Forest Service (KFS) we have selected the most suitable and environmental friendly trees that will thrive in the regions we have identified.”

Meru County Government Environment Officer Ms. Rita Murungi lauded the SACCO for their participation in conserving the environment and restoration of the Ecosystem.

Also speaking at the event, Kenya Forest Service (KFS) representative Mr. Christopher Kapula expressed his joy in joining Solution SACCO. “This is a great initiative of giving back to the society which is noble and impactful in that it has also involved the students in the tree planting exercise. The students have learnt from it and will carry on with this great initiative in the years to come. He also noted that the initiative is in line with the government’s initiative of attaining 10% of tree cover.

“We are very grateful to Solution SACCO for planting trees in our school we shall ensure that the students take care of the trees. We have been teaching the students about taking care of the environment and we are happy that today we have practically carried out the tree planting with the students.” Stated Ms. Catherine Gitonga, D.E.B Township Deputy Head teacher.
